What Does PRP Mean?

The Procedure

For under-eye injections we use the technique of harvesting PRP and injecting into the dermal layers of your skin.

During the procedure, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is injected into the skin under the eyes. The treatment generally takes between 30 to 60 minutes to complete. For best results, it is recommended that patients undergo as many as three treatments, with at least a month of healing time between each session.

Is the procedure painful?

As with any injection type therapy there is minor irritation. Patients generally experience a feeling of red or tender skin for a few days.

How many sessions will I need?

Typically patients need more than one treatment. It's common for patients, depening on the severity of the issue that is being addresses, to need 3 or more treatments.

How long does it take?

The process usually takes around 30 minutes, but can take a little longer in some cases.

How is urinary incontinence diagnosed?

The condition is diagnosed mainly on the pattern of symptoms. Keeping a urinary diary (a record of daily urination, urine accidents and fluid intake) can help your health care provider determine patterns and establish the working diagnosis. The provider will also ask questions about your general health, your history of incontinence, past surgeries, illnesses and any medication you're taking. A physical examination, including a pelvic exam, will be done, and a urine sample will be tested.

Sometimes other, more complicated tests may be needed to establish or confirm the diagnosis or to guide treatment.

How does incontinence relate to age?

Incontinence should not be considered to be a normal condition of aging. Elderly patients should be evaluated in essentially the same way that patients of any age should be evaluated. Incontinence is certainly more common as patients age, but incontinence can be seen in children, adolescents, and adults.
